App Name: Orchard Developer: Edenburn Labs ("we," "our," or "us")

This Privacy Policy describes how Edenburn Labs collects, uses, and discloses information, and what choices you have with respect to the information.
1. DATA SOVEREIGNTY & LOCAL STORAGE

Orchard is designed with a "Local-First" architecture.

    No Cloud Sync: We do not operate a central server to store your conversations, beliefs, memories, or "Cognitive Topology" data.

    Local Database: All application data is stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database and internal storage files.

    Data Loss: Because we do not store your data, we cannot recover it if you delete the app or lose your device. You are solely responsible for backing up your own data.

2. DATA COLLECTION

We (Edenburn Labs) do not collect, store, or sell your personal data, chat history, or usage analytics.

A. Information You Provide

    API Keys: You may input API keys for third-party services (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic). These keys are stored securely on your device via the Android Keystore system and are never transmitted to Edenburn Labs.

    User Content: Text input, journal entries, and "Belief" data generated by the app remain on your device.

B. Automatic Data Collection

    Crash Logs: The Google Play Store may collect anonymized crash reports (stack traces) to help us fix bugs. This data contains no personal conversation content.

3. DATA TRANSMISSION (THIRD PARTIES)

Orchard functions as a client interface. To generate responses, the app must transmit your text input to the AI Model Provider you have selected.

    If you use Cloud Models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic):

        Your text prompts and system context are sent directly from your device to the provider's API.

        This data transmission is subject to the Privacy Policy of your chosen provider. We do not act as a middleman; we do not see or log these requests.

    If you use Local Models (e.g., Ollama/Local LLM):

        No data leaves your local network. Your data remains completely private.

4. PERMISSIONS

The app requires the following permissions to function:

    INTERNET: Required to communicate with the AI Model Providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) if you choose to use them.

    FOREGROUND SERVICE: Required to ensure the "Sleep Consolidation Cycle" (database maintenance) completes without being killed by the Android system.

5. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Orchard is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the date at the top of the policy and, where appropriate, providing a notice within the app.
